Engineering at the leading edge is primarily about problem solving. People have ideas, but don’t know how to implement them, or they may have a device or design that doesn’t work and no idea how to fix it.
This is where engineers have value. They are able to translate ideas into reality, or understand how a system is supposed to work to allow them to establish why it doesn’t.
Red Horizon Services has 30 years of experience in this field, and has developed an effective strategy for problem solving. A shotgun strategy might sometimes yield fast results but the Red Horizon approach always yields results.
What we do
At Red Horizon we specialise in solving hard problems. We don’t make assumptions and we don’t take shortcuts.
We do work closely with our clients. Not just to understand the problem at hand but also to understand their business, so our solution can move things forward. Our clients know we will bring something extra to their design teams as well as a new perspective.
As a multi-disciplinary electronics and firmware consultancy we’ve worked with start-ups, SMEs and global enterprises. Our expertise is in embedded systems, consumer electronics, IoT, compliance and mechanical design.
Our philosophy
Our business is founded on the principle that every engineering challenge has a solution. It might not be obvious, or come to hand easily, but it’s always there for the engineer determined to find it.

Our founder
Red Horizon was founded by its Chief Engineer, Chris Cowdery. Chris has worked in the engineering industry since time began, benefitting from time working with multinationals, defence contractors, start-ups and SMEs. He has worked on projects as diverse as Sonar, HiFi, Haptics, RFID, Flat Panel Loudspeakers, Bluetooth, Zigbee, Touchscreens and more, designing electronics and writing firmware. He has a Masters degree in Engineering and is a Chartered Engineer.
